History of Department

The history of the Country Studies Department dates back to 1960, when the Department of Humanities was founded in the structure of the preparatory faculty for foreign students at Taras Shevchenko State University of Kyiv. In 1995, the department was renamed to the Department of Comparative Politics and Regional Studies. In 2003, the department obtained its present name –Country Studies Department.

In 2012 Institute of International Relations launched training program in "Country Studies", that’s why the Department acquired the graduation status. Training is carried out in Bachelor’s degree. Since September 2016 the Department will start training in Master’s degree. Courses are delivered by the staff of the Department: 2 professors, 3 associate professors PhD, 2 assistant professors  PhD, 1 assistant professor and by the staff of other academic units of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

4) Local Studies (American Studies, African Studies, European Studies, Oriental Studies)
Masters Degree Programs:
1) Regional studios (1y. 9months)
2) International political regionalism (1year 6months)
