On 27 February 2020 at 17:00, the "Consumer" exhibition will be opened within the IIR Hall Art Gallery.
This exhibition is an exploration of the actual topic of consumption. The artists sought to portray the process of consumption as a phenomenon that is becoming the meaning of modern society. The consequence of humanity following the capitalist line of development was overproduction.
Therefore, artists are convinced that a society without consumption is a utopia, and they do not call for a change in the world. The exhibition reflects the contemporary reality where each of us is a Consumer. What matters is the level of awareness of society and the quantity and quality of what is consumed.
Artists want to draw attention to the person whom society of consumption makes dependent, misleads, manipulates consciousness and desires. So the world we live in becomes a hoax of goals and dreams imposed by advertising, where we do not hear our desires, where we lose our understanding of the true value of things.
The exhibition will feature works by Yevgeny Klymenko, Nicole Ilyina, Vlad Tretyak, Yevgeny Kucheriavy, Nastya Prokofieva, Alex Velboy and Artem Chuienko.
Free entrance.
The exhibition will be held in the lobby of the Institute of International Relations Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from February 27 to March 27, 2020.
