Academic Board of Institute

According to the Statute of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Academic Council of the Institute operates to consider issues of educational and scientific activities of the structural unit.

The Academic Council of the Institute consists of director, his deputies, scientific secretary, heads of departments, chairman of the trade union bureau, heads of students and graduate students’ self-governing bodies, as well as the representatives elected from among pedagogical and other employees by public self-government of the Institute at the request of the units in which they work (one representative from each structural unit). At the same time, at least seventy-five percent of the total number of members of the Academic Council of the Institute should be scientific and pedagogical workers.

The agenda of the meeting of the Academic Council is formed by the director, taking also into account the proposals of departments and units, as well as the proposals of the majority of members of the Academic Council.

The composition of the Academic Council of the Institute is approved by the order of the director for a period of 5 years. Decisions of the Academic Council are put into effect by order of the director.

Academic Council of the Institute:

· determines the strategy and perspective directions of development of educational, scientific and innovative activity of the Institute;

· defines the system and approves the procedures for internal quality assurance of higher education;

· considers educational programs and curricula of specialties, directions of preparation and retraining of experts;

· identifies research topics and discusses reports on their implementation;

· approves the topics of doctoral and candidate dissertations, conducts evaluation of postgraduate and doctoral students;

· considers the issue of replacing the positions of heads of departments, professors, researchers;

· considers questions of a technique of educational disciplines teaching, organizational questions of educational work;

· listens to the annual report of the director, reports of heads of departments and other persons according to Regulations on Institute;

· elects associate professors, assistants, senior lecturers, teachers by secret ballot;

· approves curricula and study plans;

·  adopts training programs and curricula;- resolves other issues in accordance with its mandate.
