The Library of the Institute of International Relations is a structural unit and a branch service department of M. Maksymovych Scientific Library of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In 1992, the library began functioning in the facility at the address: 36/1 Illenko st., as well as the educational building of the Institute of International Relations.

The library is structurally subdivided into the delivery desk and the reading room of the Institute of International Relations.

Total area of the library is 1317 sq.m. and includes two delivery desks, the computer room, the cabinet of electronic documentation and the book depository.

Annually the delivery desk provides services to about4 thousand readers that visit it about 6,5 thousand times. Every year 8,5 thousand books are borrowed.

There are computers in rooms of the library which are provided for readers’ use of e-catalogue of the Library of the Institute of International Relations.

The book stock of the library accounts for approximately 114 thousand copies of scientific and educational literature for the students of the Institute.

The friendly team consisting of eight members is responsible for the Library’s operation.

The Director of the Library is Lilia Vashchenko

Skilled employees of The Processing Division who have long-term working experience effectively render library, bibliographic and information support service to lecturers and students of the Institute of International Relations.

Katkova Natalia, the librarian of the second category, the overall library experience is 43 years. She has been working at the Institute since its inception.

We quarterly inform our readers of new documents (books, magazines, electronic copies) in our collection of new documents (newsletters), which provides users with the opportunity to find the novelties.

For scientific and educational purposes of lecturers and students on the site of the library, there is an opportunity to use access to information resources and databases: SCOPUS, Web of Science, Springer Nature and others.

Lecturers, PhD students, students of ICO department as well as students from other faculties of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and readers from other institutions of the city can satisfy their library requests in a hall with 120 places. The staff of the IIR reading room helps an average of 14,000 per year (visiting).

For many years, over 38, the bibliographer of NL, Lukashevych Tamara, has been an indispensable leader in the world of knowledge for many generations of future international specialists.

The staff of the reading room organizes thematic and informative book exhibitions for mass events, seminars and conferences held in the walls of our Institute, sensitive and attentive to the most complex requests of readers.
