Research and international activity
The Chair of International Information conducts active research activities. Academic staff of the Chair of International Information explore such scientific and applied topics as:
- Information warfare and information security in international relations;
- Crisis communication in international relations;
- Modelling and forecasting of international relations;
- Information society policy;
- Cultural diplomacy and intercultural communication
- Contemporary communication technologies in the activities of foreign offices;
- Information and analytical support of foreign policy;
- Strategic communication in international relations;
- National identity in international relations, etc.
In different years, academic staff of the Chair organized international scientific events to discuss current issues of foreign policy and communications in the context of modern political, security, economic and socio-cultural transformations at the global and regional levels.
Since 2017, academic staff of the Chair has been working on the research topic No. 16КФ048-01 "Strategic communications and global information society" (scientific supervisor - Prof. M. Ryzhkov).
The professors of the Chair participate in one-time specialized academic councils for obtaining PhD degree in the fields of "Social and behavioral sciences" and "International relations", as well as in specialized academic councils for the defense of doctoral/candidate theses.
During 2018-2020, Professor Nataliia Pipchenko and Associate professor Oksana Frolova were members of the commission for the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers within the speciality "International Relations, Public Communication and Regional Studies".
Professors of the Chair and students were also the organizers of the IIR International School (Winter and Autumn), supported by the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Charity Fund "Ukrainian Identity".
During 2019-2022, Professor Nataliia Pipchenko participated as an expert in the project «Advancing European Studies in Ukraine: Interdisciplinary Approach» (№ 611625-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-CoE) (№611625-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-CoE), implemented by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in the Institute of International Relations.
In June 2023, Associate Professor Olena Dobrzhanska participated in the training within EU Erasmus+ Program (University of Zielona Gora, Poland).
Professor of the Chair Olha Andrieieva is a reviewer of the research journal "Political Studies".
Professor Nataliia Pipchenko is a member of the editorial boards of such research journals of Ukraine as "International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies", "Actual Problems of International Relations" and "State and Law".
The Chair maintains contacts with Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University, Mariupol University for the Humanities, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Wroclaw University, Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznan), Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Poland), etc.
In 2022-2023, Memorandums of Cooperation were signed with Witten/Herdeck University (Witten, Germany) and the Faculty of Communications of the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (Munich, Germany).
Together with the academic staff of the Chair of International Media Communications and Communication Technologies, the members of the Chair of International Information cooperate with the National Institute of Strategic Studies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrainian Institute, the Ukrainian Foreign Policy Association, the NGO "Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations", as well as with foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine.
In 2024, Associate professor of the Chair Nataliia Bielousova became member of the organizational committee of the Cyber Diplomacy Forum of Ukraine, initiated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. As part of the Forum, international scientific conferences and round tables on issues of cyber diplomacy are held.
