Commentary by Associate Professor Mykola Kapitonenko for Ukrainian Radio

Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy, Mykola Kapitonenko, commented on the Ukrainian Radio regarding Germany's position as to Ukraine's invitation to joining NATO, in which he outlined the reasons for the negative attitude of the German government towards immediately granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. 

On the air of Ukrainian Radio, he said that this war had significantly distanced Ukraine from Euro-Atlantic integration, since very few NATO members are ready to sign up for fightingwith Russia. Also, once Europe would have realised that there are no prospects for Ukraine's victory, it may change its policy regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war and its support for Ukraine.
