Dr. Shevchenko’s research marks the first comprehensive and systematic study within Ukrainian political science that explores the policies of major international actors in the context of global climate change. The dissertation presents an in-depth, multi-level analysis of the climate policies of the United States, the European Union, and China, taking into consideration their strategic approaches to global climate governance.

The analytical framework developed by Dr. Shevchenko provides a nuanced characterization of these actors’ climate policies, uncovering both internal and external contradictions as well as their aspirations for global leadership in the environmental domain.
