Nataliia Rylach, Associate Professor at the Department of International Organizations and Diplomatic Service at the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations, delivered an online lecture and training session on diplomatic protocol and etiquette for participants of the Young European Ambassadors initiative in Ukraine, implemented by EU NEIGHBOURS east.

Among the Young European Ambassadors in Ukraine are fourth-year students of the International Law programme Vladlen Zaitsev and Kateryna Kot, as well as Sofiia Yevchenko, a graduate of the Master’s programme in Diplomacy and International Cooperation, who also took part in the training.

The session covered the principles of diplomatic protocol and international courtesy, the organisation of and participation in high-level visits, diplomatic receptions and protocol events, business dress codes, and the appropriate use of state symbols. Particular attention was given to the practical application of protocol standards in contemporary international communication.

Young European Ambassadors is an international network bringing together more than 1,700 young people from over 30 countries. Young European Ambassadors in Ukraine take part in international events, engage with members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of European institutions, participate in protocol events, and represent Ukraine internationally.

For participants in the initiative, knowledge of diplomatic protocol and etiquette is therefore not merely theoretical, but a practical tool for effective international communication.
