Economic Diplomacy as a Component of Ukraine's National Security

On September 10, 2026, an online lecture was held for second-year Master's students of the "Diplomacy and International Cooperation" educational program, delivered by Volodymyr Khomanets, PhD in Economics, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Tunisian Republic and the State of Libya.

The lecture, titled "Economic Diplomacy as a Component of Ukraine's National Security," was organized as part of the "Economic Diplomacy" course taught by Nataliia Rylach, Associate Professor and PhD in Economics.

During the meeting, students explored the fuctions, objectives, and practical tools of economic diplomacy in safeguarding Ukraine's economic interests, strengthening its capacity, and promoting Ukrainian products in global markets.

Special attention was devoted to Ukraine's foreign economic policy and the economic priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Volodymyr Khomanets elaborated on the work of the Council of Exporters and Investors under the MFA of Ukraine, the NAZOVNI digital platform, the state system for supporting exports and investments, as well as Ukraine's cooperation with international economic organizations.    

The Master's students had the opportunity to engage with the practitioner diplomat and receive expert answers to their questions regarding the implementation of economic diplomacy. In particular, the discussion covered Ukrainian-Tunisian relations and the specifics of Ukraine's engagement with other African nations.

Among the promising areas of cooperation, the Ambassador highlighted education and human capital development, exports of pharmaceuticals and grain products, medical tourism to Ukraine, and food security.
