International academic cooperation with UNEC

Under the cooperation agreement between Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) (Azerbaijan), international academic cooperation in the field of economic education and research continues to develop.

A significant contribution to this collaboration has been made by Valeriy Mazurenko, a lecturer in the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations, Professor and Doctor of Economics, who provided academic supervision and academic support for the preparation and defence of UNEC students’ Master’s theses in English, specialising in ‘Financial Management’.

Under the supervision of Valeriy Mazurenko, the following master’s theses were completed:

Chichak Yusifova Saleh — ‘The Evolution of Fintech’s Role in the Global Financial Industry’;

Habibova Khatira Ilham — ‘Business Risk Management in International Transactions’.

Both Master’s students successfully defended their theses in June 2026. Following the defence, Chichak Yusifova Saleh was awarded 91 marks, whilst Khatira Habibova received 84 marks.

Coordination of the collaboration on the part of UNEC was carried out by the International Centre for Master’s and Doctoral Studies, established by the university in 2016. The Centre focuses its activities on improving the quality of education, introducing international standards into the training of master’s and doctoral students, and developing research potential.

The graduates themselves also spoke highly of the professional support provided by Valeriy Mazurenko. In their letters of thanks, they highlighted his academic guidance, valuable advice, support and contribution to the successful preparation and defence of their research.

Such collaboration serves as an important example of international academic cooperation and contributes to the development of academic ties between Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and leading higher education institutions in Azerbaijan.
