The ‘International Finance and Investment’ Master’s programme is the first at the Institute of International Business to be affiliated with the CFA Institute
The Master’s programme in ‘International Finance and Investment’ has been included in the University Affiliation Programme of the CFA Institute – a global professional association of investment professionals headquartered in the USA. This is the Institute’s first educational programme to receive such affiliation.
The CFA Institute develops and awards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification – the industry standard for financial analysts and portfolio managers worldwide. Accordingly, the programme’s content is assessed by the organisation itself, which sets the professional standards. The association’s experts spent six months analysing the structure and content of the modules and confirmed that the ‘International Finance and Investment’ programme trains specialists according to the same criteria by which employers assess them.
“Affiliation with the CFA Institute means that the modules in our educational programme are aligned with current practice in international financial markets, rather than merely with academic standards,” notes Associate Professor Vasyl Namonyuk, Head of the Department of International Finance.
“Financial markets change faster than curricula, so alignment with the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge is a mechanism that keeps the programme up to date constantly, rather than just once every few years,” adds the programme coordinator, Associate Professor Vasyl Matey.
For students, this means:
a programme of study whose content is aligned with the CFA Institute’s requirements;
three annual scholarships to sit the CFA Level I exam;
the opportunity, upon completion of the programme, to confirm their qualification with a certificate recognised by international companies and investment funds.
This affiliation is the result of the work carried out by the Department of International Finance team on developing the educational programme.
