International forum of students from the Institute of International Relations and the University of Edinburgh (UK)

An online international forum of students from the Institute of International Relations and the University of Edinburgh (UK) took place on December 6, 2023. The forum was dedicated to the problem of the Russia-Ukraine war. Two main themes of the forum were ‘Russian Foreign Policy” and “Energy and Environmental effects of Russia-Ukraine war’.
Students from IIR presented their studies, had a vivid discussion with their Edinburgh counterparts, and also told their personal stories of the war and shared photos and videos of the war. Participants discussed multiple issues like waging wars on post-soviet space as a part of Russian FP, critical assessment of the Russian narrative in international media, crimes of ecocide and harm to biodiversity due to the destruction of Kakhovka dam, nuclear safety in and around Russia-occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP.
The special event of the forum: lecture by Prof. Michael Albert (UoE) ‘Impact of Russia-Ukraine war on global energy and environment security’.
