On October 14, 2026, with the support of the Department of International Organizations and Diplomatic Service at the IIR of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, an online lecture was held featuring Kseniia ABRAMOVYCH, Attaché at the Department of Economic Diplomacy and Recovery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The lecture was organized for second-year Master's degree students majoring in "Diplomacy and International Cooperation" as part of the course "Economic Diplomacy" (lecturer — Assoc. Prof. Nataliia RYLACH) on the topic: "International Economic Relations in the Context of Globalized World Economic Ties".

How to open a foreign market for Ukrainian goods? What to do when trade barriers become political? And how do diplomats help businesses protect their interests? Kseniia ABRAMOVYCH shared practical tools for protecting and promoting Ukraine's economic interests with Master's students of the "Diplomacy and International Cooperation" program.

Together with the guest speaker, students discussed the growing role of regional associations and six global trends affecting international economic relations: geoeconomic confrontation, the weaponization of economic dependencies, export restrictions, price volatility, fragmentation of international rules, and reduced international aid.

Using real-world examples such as Ukrainian wheat exports, opening foreign markets, and the 2022–2023 Black Sea Grain Initiative, students learned how diplomatic negotiations impact international trade and food security.

A separate focus was placed on the step-by-step workflow of a diplomat: from identifying an economic issue and searching for partners to risk assessment and preparing proposals for decision-making.

We extend our gratitude to Kseniia ABRAMOVYCH for an open dialogue and for sharing practical experience that allows students to see how knowledge of economic diplomacy is translated into decisions protecting Ukraine's national interests.
