Lecture by Mr Klaus Hofmann

On 13 May 2024, a lecture with Mr Klaus Hofmann, a former judge and prosecutor, as well as a legal officer at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY, Office of the Prosecutor, 2005-2010), currently a representative of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA), was organised for the 2nd year students of the International Law speciality.

The topic of the lecture was an analysis of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the experience of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group in investigating international crimes committed by Russians on the territory of Ukraine.
Mr Hofmann actively answered students' questions about the comparative aspect of international crimes, the ratification of the Rome Statute and the activities of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group in Ukraine. The guest paid special attention to the crimes committed by the Russian military against Ukrainian children, including their deportation.

The lecture was held with the assistance of Vadym Popko, Professor of the Department of Comparative and European Law of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations, as part of the course "Procedures for Investigating Criminal Cases in Ukraine and Foreign Countries".
