A lecture by Olena Pryiatelchuk for participants of the School for Young Ukrainian Diplomats
On 21 April 2026, Olena Anatoliivna Pryiatelchuk, Deputy Director for Academic and Pedagogical Affairs at the Institute of International Relations and International Economics and Professor in the Department of International Business, delivered a lecture to participants of the School for Young Ukrainian Diplomats.
Topic: ‘Professions that change the world: from school to an international career’.
During the lecture, the choice of profession was examined as a strategic decision that not only determines an individual’s career path but also influences economic processes, social balance and global stability.
Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of current and high-paying professions, labour market trends up to 2070, and the competencies that will shape a new generation of competitive professionals. This involves the synergy of hard skills and soft skills, proficiency in foreign languages, developed emotional intelligence, effective communication, and the ability to manage risks.
Particular attention was paid to the profession of international relations specialist as one of the key roles of the 21st century. It is these specialists who shape the rules of interaction between states, build trust and ensure sustainable international relations. A career in this field is based on multiculturalism, adaptability and well-developed international networking.
During the meeting, participants also analysed approaches to choosing a higher education institution and their future career path, in particular the role of the educational environment in shaping not only knowledge but also professional contacts.
The interactive session ‘You Are a Player in the Global World’ helped develop self-analysis skills: participants identified their own strengths and weaknesses, modelled possible career development scenarios, and recognised the importance of experience, self-reflection and a willingness to learn.
