Lecture by Volodymyr Sheik and Iryna Shum: ‘Content, priorities and tools of Ukraine's cultural diplomacy’

On 11 November 2024, a lecture was held with the leadership of the Ukrainian Institute: Director General Volodymyr Sheika and Deputy Director, former Consul General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf Iryna Shum for 2nd year students of the Master's degree programme ‘Diplomacy and International Cooperation’ on the topic: ‘Content, Priorities and Tools for the Implementation of Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy’ within the discipline ‘Non-State Actors and Lobbying in International Relations’.

The speakers explained to the students the key concepts of cultural diplomacy and its main components. The main message of the lecture concerned the professionalism of a diplomat in protecting Ukraine's national interests through cooperation in the field of culture. The guests shared their own experience of diplomatic and consular service, cooperation with foreign institutions through cultural events and outlined the main foreign policy achievements of Ukraine's public diplomacy after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia. 

The students were actively involved in discussing the topic of Ukraine's further representation in the world through the tools of cultural diplomacy.
