Master class with Elena Sapozhnikova on international protection of national minorities and indigenous peoples

On November 21 and 28, 2023, a group of the second year of the master's educational program "International Law," which studies the discipline "International Protection of National Minorities and Indigenous Peoples," worked with Olena Sapozhnikova, who is engaged in advocacy in the field of human rights protection.

The first online lesson was devoted to hate speech: students were asked to analyze real life situations through the prism of the prohibition of discrimination and intolerance.

During the second lesson, the group considered the case, which was led by Mrs. Olena herself and which concerned the protection of the rights of the Roma. Particular attention was paid to what provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights were violated by Ukraine in the relevant situation.

During these meetings, Olena Sapozhnikova provided numerous practical advice on working in the human rights sector, conducting cases of discrimination and representing clients in the European Court of Human Rights.
