Master class by The Kyiv Independent: the truth about modern Ukraine and its struggle for freedom

Recently, the 4th year students of the International Communications program as part of the International Media Communications course had the opportunity to talk to Zakhar Protsiuk, a graduate of the School of International Relations and now the Chief Operating Officer of The Kyiv Independent.

During the master class, the guest shared the history of the creation of The Kyiv Independent, a media outlet that has become an important source of information about Ukraine for an international audience in just three years. The students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions about the business model of the media, discussed strategies for attracting an audience, effective use of media platforms, and long-term development plans for The Kyiv Independent.

The guest emphasized that building trust with the audience through professionalism, quality of materials and transparent interaction with the reader is one of the main factors of media success. These approaches help The Kyiv Independent generate resources for further development, creating a community of like-minded people. 

Finally, Zakhar Protsiuk shared the strategic vision of The Kyiv Independent, emphasizing that the long-term goal of the media outlet is to become a powerful and recognizable voice of Ukraine on the global stage.
