Meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Ihor Kharchenko

On 9 May, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Ihor Yurii Kharchenko met with the 1st year students of the Department of International Relations within the framework of the lecture course on international economic relations (lecturer - Associate Professor V.I. Mazurenko). Ihor Yuriiovych Kharchenko is a prominent Ukrainian diplomat, who served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations (Head of the Secretariat of the President of the 52nd session of the UN General Assembly); Ambassador-at-Large of Ukraine (1997-1998), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2000-2001 and from 07.2003 to 11.2003), Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (21.08.2001 to 07.2003).
The Ambassador made a fascinating presentation on "Diplomacy, politics and economy: a professional's view" where he shared his experience as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania (1998-2000), to the Republic of Poland (11.2003-12.2005), to the United Kingdom (09.12.2005-30.07.2010), to Japan (29.01.2013-14.04.2020).

In addition, Ihor Kharchenko stressed the importance of understanding the importance of economic processes in international relations. Many questions were also raised by the students about the experience of Mr. Ambassador as the Plenipotentiary Representative of Ukraine in the Balkans (since 24.09.2001), Special Representative of Ukraine for the Transnistrian settlement (since 16.09.2010) and Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) (from 16.04.2006 - 30.07.2010).
