A meeting with Professor Oleksandr Korchenko, a candidate for the post of Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

On 7 October 2026, a meeting took place between the candidate for the post of Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Dr Oleksandr Korchenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor, and the staff of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations.

Three colleagues joined the meeting via a hybrid format. For those who were unable to attend, we would like to provide an overview of the event.

In the first part, the candidate presented his programme, which comprises nine key areas, and spoke about his experience in developing research activities at the State University of Information and Communication Technologies.

Among the key areas on which Oleksandr Korchenko intends to focus, he cited digitalisation, reducing paper-based document flow, the use of AI and a transparent financial model. He also emphasised the need to ensure safe working and learning conditions.

Following the presentation of the programme, participants had the opportunity to ask questions. The first concerned a student-centred approach and engagement with students: the candidate stated that students are the top priority and their views must be given the highest priority. The second question concerned the organisation of international relations: the candidate noted that the key factors are personal participation in delegations and a strong team, so that everyone can travel together and build ‘strong connections’.
