Online session: ‘Ethics in academic publishing and working with the Scopus database’
On Monday, 29 June 2026, staff from the Department of Foreign Languages at the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations took part in an online meeting on the topic ‘Ethics in academic publishing and working with the Scopus database’.
The meeting was chaired by Anna Arkadievna Stepanova – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Professor at the Department of European and Eastern Languages and Translation at Alfred Nobel University, and Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal *Alfred Nobel University Journal of Philology*, which is indexed in the international scientometric database Scopus.
During the meeting, Anna Stepanova spoke about the specifics of how the Scopus scientometric database operates, how Ukrainian academics and researchers can gain access to it, the indexing of academic publications in the international scientometric database, as well as the specifics of preparing publications and publication ethics in relevant academic journals, in particular the use of social media content and personal data.
The professor also spoke about additional resources that academics and researchers can utilise to expand their knowledge on the relevant topics.
During the online session, participants had the opportunity to discuss with Anna Stepanova current issues relating to publishing in the international scientometric database Scopus. At the end, they expressed their gratitude to her for the detailed and fruitful discussion.
