Open Lecture with Media Expert Dmytro Zolotukhin: OSINT Tools in International Media Analytics

лекція

A workshop by media expert and OSINT technology specialist Dmytro Zolotukhin was recently held for students of the "International Communications" (Bachelor's degree) and "International Media Studies" (Master's degree) educational programs. The focus of the meeting was on the capabilities and tools of collecting information from open sources in the work of an international media communications specialist.

Particular emphasis was placed on applying OSINT technologies to analyze current international information. According to Dmytro Zolotukhin, the key issue for analysts using such methods to study international processes is "not merely, or not so much, the use of OSINT tools themselves, but rather their intellectual capacity to competently and rationally formulate the objective and the potential practical application of the results of this type of analytical research."

Therefore, the guest focused specifically on this task during his lecture and the subsequent discussion. If expressed in the language we are used to talk with AI, the primary  challenge facing OSINT analysts is to formulate a contextually and predictively meaningful text request - in other words - a prompt. This requires a profound knowledge of the research subject, the context of global events, a broad outlook, and an understanding of the feasibility and direction of applying the collected data.

The participants of the meeting also reviewed the history of this method and examined several case studies where OSINT technologies influenced the course of international processes.
