Open lecture of PAVLO BYELOUSOV, partner of the law firm "AEQUO"

November 20, 2024 PAVLO BYELOUSOV, partner of the law firm "AEQUO", delivered open lecture for the 3rd year students of the EP "International Law" and the 1st year students of the English language Master Programme “European Business Law”. PAVLO BYELOUSOV has been specialized in international arbitration and litigation, with a special focus on investment, commercial and energy-related disputes.

Topic of the lecture: "Application of EU law in Ukrainian Сourts and International Arbitration."

Mr. Byelousov outlined different approaches to understanding the concept of "transposition" of EU law provisions applied in the activities of the Ukrainian authorities and case-law of Ukrainian courts. The lecturer also shared his own experience of representing his clients' interests in the Supreme Court of Ukraine in disputes where the parties referred to the current provisions of EU law, the Treaty establishing Energy Community and the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement as well as the case-law of the Court of Justice of the EU. Special focus was made on the role of individual provisions of EU acts and judgments of the Court of Justice of the EU for awards adopted by the Stockholm Arbitral Tribunal in disputes between NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom.
