Participation of IIR students in the presentation of the documentary film «I3IUM»

On October 13, 2025, master’s students of the educational programs «International Media Studies» and «International Communications» took part in the presentation of the documentary film «I3IUM».

The students had the opportunity to analyze the film in the context of contemporary documentary filmmaking, explore the communicative strategies employed, and critically reflect on the media product.

The film tells the story of the heroic defense and liberation of Izium — a city that has become a symbol of Ukrainian resilience and sacrifice. The project was a joint effort of the Communication Unit of the 3rd Special Operations Regiment and the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade.

At the center of the film are the events of the first months of the full-scale invasion, when about two hundred Ukrainian defenders, supported by local residents, held Izium against the vastly larger Russian forces. A separate part of the film is dedicated to the heroes who died during the defense on March 9 —Roman Kosenko “Yashka”, commander of an SSO group, Ivan Pokidko “Johnny”, an operator, and Oleksandr Kolesnikov and Oleksandr Oliinyk of the 81st Brigade.
