Participation of the Institute of International Relations in the workshop ‘Conflict, Settlement and Recovery: Kosovo's Experience and Prospects for Ukraine’

On November 4, 2024, lecturers of the International Communications Program of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Associate Professor Olena Kuchmiy and Assistant Professor Maria Zaitseva took part in the workshop “Conflict, Settlement and Recovery: Kosovo's Experience and Prospects for Ukraine”

Welcoming remarks were made by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Center for Security Studies CENSS Vadym Chernysh and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo Kreshnik Ahmeti.
The event included 4 sessions to discuss the following topics:
“Overview of the conflict in Kosovo and post-war stabilization” - the role of UN and NATO missions during and after the war, lessons learned from UNMIK, KFOR peacekeeping operations, transition of power from peacekeepers to local authorities
“Disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR)” - NATO's role in the DDR process and the fight against illicit arms trade
“Peacebuilding Process - rehabilitation of war veterans and victims of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo
“Rule of Law and Post-War Governance” - restoration of governance and elections in the post-conflict period, the role of local governments and international support in post-war Kosovo.
