Participation of the School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat in the conference "Humanitarian Diplomacy in the Context of War in Ukraine"

At the invitation of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Ukraine and His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine Antonio Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone, the participants of the School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations had the honour to attend the conference: "Humanitarian Diplomacy in the Context of the War in Ukraine", which was held on 4 July at the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Hennadii Nadolenko addressed the audience - representatives of the Ukrainian and foreign diplomatic corps, academic, scientific and expert community and partners - with a welcoming speech.

The opening speeches were delivered:

  • Antonio Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine, 

  • Liudmyla Yenina is the Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,

  • Karolina Lindholm Billing - UNHCR Ukraine.

The distinguished speakers proposed the following topics for discussion at the conference:

  • "The role of churches in humanitarian diplomacy" - Visvaldas Kulbokas, Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine;

  • "State and Church in Ukraine in the Context of Russian Aggression: Interaction in Humanitarian Diplomacy" - Viktor Voynalovych, First Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedoms;

  • "Humanitarian diplomacy - what does it mean for the International Committee of the Red Cross?" - Jürg Eglin - Head of the ICRC in Ukraine;

  • "Activities of the Maltese Aid Service in Ukraine" - Pavlo Titko, Head of the Maltese Aid Service in Ukraine;

  • "Educational Diplomacy in Wartime" - Kseniya Smyrnova, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;

  • "Social Corporate Responsibility - Strength in Unity. Bosch's experience in Ukraine" - Vitaliy Bulda, General Director of Robert Bosch Ltd.

The event was moderated by Mr. Andy Hunder, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine.

The event is co-organised by GDIP Media Centre, the General Directorate for servicing foreign missions.
