Participation of a student of the IIR in an educational and advocacy trip to NATO and European Union institutions in Brussels
A second-year student of the International Communications educational program, Oleksandr Shubrat, had the opportunity to take part in an educational and advocacy visit to NATO and European Union institutions in Brussels within the framework of the project “Youth Without Borders: Together in NATO”, implemented by NGO “ANTS” with the support of NATO.
Participation in the program was the result of a multi-level competitive selection process. Our student successfully passed three preliminary stages of selection — the lecture-based, analytical, and simulation stages — and advanced to the fourth and final stage of the program. As a result of the competition, Oleksandr was selected out of more than 250 candidates from across Ukraine as one of three participants who received the opportunity to join the international educational and advocacy visit.

During the visit, our student represented the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations and consistently advocated for Ukraine’s interests abroad, taking part in discussions with representatives of European and Euro-Atlantic institutions. In particular, he had the opportunity to communicate with Members of the European Parliament, former Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs of EU countries, as well as representatives of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and diplomatic missions.
We are sincerely proud of the active civic stance, high level of preparation, and engagement of our students in international processes. Such examples clearly demonstrate that students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations are worthy representatives of Ukraine on the global stage.
