Performance “The Unexpected Guest” by the Melpomene Theater Club

On May 17 2025, the Great Assembly Hall of the Institute of International Relations and hosted a performance of The Unexpected Guest, a detective story based on the novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. This is the second performance of the Melpomene Theater Club, a community of creative students of the IIR.
In 1.5 hours, the audience watched the investigation of the murder of Mr. Richard Warwick, a dramatic story that takes place in one day. The tension and plot intrigue lasted until the very end of the performance.

The Melpomene team had been preparing The Unexpected Guest for over two months. During this time, the participants experienced many interesting moments and gained a rewarding theatrical experience.
The entrance to the performance was for a donation of 100 hryvnias. The show raised about 11 thousand, which went to the current fundraising of the Volunteer Department of Student Council. Thus, the department closed the fundraising for animal food and added funds to the “Oberig” project.

Most of the creative team was made up of students of the Institute of International Relations. The performance was created by: director and head of the club Yelyzaveta Kolesova (2IR), assistant director Ivan Solomakha (1IR); author of the idea of the play and co-author of the club Jan Kritan (Volodymyr Kukhar) (KSE); actors Artur Bedrak, Volodymyr Sydorenko, Arkadiy Demchuk, Sofia Kozhara, Stanislav Kovtun, Yaroslava Tsupryk (1 IR), Kateryna Zahrebelna (2 IC), Oleksandra Protsiuk (2 IER), Yelyzaveta Vasylenko (1 NIF); lighting designers Damian Benedik, Victoria Orynchak (1 IR), Yelyzaveta Katamadze (1 IC).
