Practical lesson for students on ‘Diplomatic reception’

On 14 November 2024, the traditional practical lesson on diplomatic protocol and etiquette ‘Diplomatic Reception’ was held in the Polish Hall of the dining room of the Institute of International Relations, conducted by the teachers of the Department of International Organisations and Diplomatic Service: Candidate of History, Associate Professor, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine Viacheslav Tsivatyi and Candidate of Political Science, Associate Professor Roman Petiur.

The lesson was attended by 4th year students of the International Relations programme and 2nd year students of the Country Studies programme. During the lesson, students had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge of etiquette and protocol and develop the following skills:
- adherence to the rules of business style of appearance;
- greeting, introductions, exchange of business cards;
- preparation and delivery of greetings and toasts;
- mastery of the basic rules of table etiquette during diplomatic receptions;
- guest etiquette, rules of networking.
As always, the table setting and decoration of the Polish Hall was carried out at a high professional level by the staff of the Catering Centre of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, for which we are very grateful.

Despite the war and the destruction caused by it, the Institute of International Relations continues to work, and students have the opportunity to feel the solemn atmosphere of a diplomatic reception and enjoy the art of diplomatic work.
