Professor Oleksandr Hon became a Fulbright Visiting Scholar

Professor of Foreign Languages Oleksandr Moiseyovych Hon has become a Fulbright Scholar at Penn State College of the Liberal Arts.

As part of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar programme, Oleksandr Gon will work on the topic "Ezra Pound and Yuri Klen: Contexts of Two Modern Unfinished Epics," which explores Pound's Cantos (1917–1968) and Klen's Ashes of Empires (1943–1947).

The professor argues that despite the structural similarity of the two texts in terms of artistic vision and linguistic means, they differ in poetics and ideology. Klen's post-Romantic teleology contrasts with Pound's cyclical and mythological method.

Describing this as a poetic "ver(s)ification of history," Oleksandr Hon emphasises how modernist epics reinterpret the relationship between lyrical subjectivity and epic tradition, and offers a new perspective on transatlantic exchanges in 20th-century literature.

We sincerely congratulate our colleague!

We wish him the fulfilment of all his scientific ideas and inspiration for future projects!
