Public scientific and practical discussion of problematic issues regarding conflict-related sexual violence

October 12, 2023 in the building of the Institute of International Relations of the Kyiv National University, a public scientific and practical discussion of problematic issues regarding conflict-related sexual violence took place, taking into account the Balkan experience in this area.

The event was organized by the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, NGO "UA Experts" within the framework of the social and legal project "Response & Prevention" in partnership with the Department of Comparative and European Law of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with the support of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA PA).

The discussion was attended by representatives of state institutions of Ukraine, in particular the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Office of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, representatives of UN agencies, representatives of civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations, representatives of higher educational institutions, in particular, the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the National Aviation University, the State University of Trade and Economics.

In the welcoming part, the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work addressed the participants (international cooperation) of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv - Doctor of Law, Prof. Smirnova K.V. and Head of the Department of Comparative and European Law of the Institute of International Relations - Doctor of Law, Prof. Bilas I.G. During the discussion, teachers of the Institute of International Relations - Prof. Shpakovich O.M. (Department of Comparative and European Law), Associate Professor O.R. Duzhen (Department of International Law) and as. Bassista A.V. (Department of International Law).

The participants of the discussion considered the proposals and provided recommendations on the creation of an integrated system for responding to crimes of the conflict-related sexual violence.
