Representatives of the Department of Private International Law joined the parliamentary dialogue on the new Civil Code of Ukraine

On 8 October 2026, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of the Department of Private International Law of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv took part in the round table “The New Civil Code of Ukraine: Rules for Life after the War”. The event took place in Kyiv and became the concluding event of the nationwide tour of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, “Parliamentary Dialogue”.

The Department was represented by Head of the Department of Private International Law, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Hennadii Tsirat; Doctor of Law, Professor Anatolii Dovgert; PhD (Law), Associate Professor Viktor Kalakura; and PhD (Law), Assistant Professor Viktoriia Khomenko.

During the event, participants discussed the further modernisation of the Civil Code of Ukraine, taking into account the development of the digital economy, new forms of civil relations, European legal approaches, and Ukraine’s experience gained during the war.

Professor Anatolii Dovgert, Scientific Coordinator of the Working Group on the Recodification of Civil Legislation of Ukraine, emphasised in his presentation the particular importance of the new Civil Code for Ukraine’s post-war life, the necessity of its adoption, and described the Code as a code of private law and civil society, a kind of “economic constitution” of everyday life.
