On December 15, 2023, the Scientific and Practical International Conference "Special Tribunal. Reintegration of Crimea and all t.o. territories. War crimes. Compensation Mechanism, "organized with the support of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Also, the partner of the event was "Toronto Kyiv" and the bookstore "Yakaboo" represented by Krivosha Yurii, from which all speakers received valuable gifts in the form of modern Ukrainian publications on the history and international relations of our state.

The scientific and practical international conference consisted of four panel discussions. Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Valeriy Kopiyka, Director of IIR, Olena Kovalska, Chief of Staff of the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, as well as Uliana Kozulya, Director of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Asman Moshe Reuven, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine.

The first panel was devoted to the creation of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine. They shared their experience on this topic:

  • Korynevych Anton - Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Associate Professor;
  • Gnatovsky Mykola - Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Associate Professor;
  • Bilas Ivan - Professor, Head of the Department of Comparative and European Law IIR KNU; 
  • Kravchenko Stanislav - Chairman of the Supreme Court; Kachura Alexander - People's Deputy of Ukraine.

The second panel of the conference concerned the reintegration of Crimea and all temporarily occupied territories. The speakers were:

  • Bugrov Volodymyr - Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; 
  • Tasheva Tamila - Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea; 
  • Chubatov Refat - Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People; 
  • Luneva Olena - Advocacy Director of the Human Rights Center ZMINA; 
  • Tomak Maria - Head of the Crimean Platform Support Service.

The third panel of the conference was devoted to the importance of investigating war crimes. His experience with the public shared:

  • Mykhaylo Buromensky - Professor of the Department of International Law of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; 
  • Oleksandr Zyuz - Head of the Department for Interaction with Intergovernmental, State and Non-Governmental Organizations of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in the Conditions of Armed Conflict of the Office of the Prosecutor General; 
  • Yevhen Popko - Candidate of Law of Law, Mof Law, M, M 
  • Eckart Brödermann - Professor. or (University of Hamburg), LL.M. (Harvard), Maître en droit (Paris V), FCIA b. (London) Certified Specialist in International Business Law (Germany) Rechtsanwalt (Germany), Attorney-at-law (New York) Senior Vice President, International - Primerus;

The last, fourth, panel discussion took place on the creation of a compensation mechanism. The speakers were:

  • Markiyan Klyuchkovsky - Director of the International Register of Damage Caused by the Russian Aggression against Ukraine; 
  • Anna Tishchenko - Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Representation of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine; 
  • Ksenia Smirnova - Vice-Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Professor; 
  • Rostyslav Shurma - Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Special guests were Ambassadors of Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Moldova, Pakistan, South Africa, Slovakia, Hungary, France, Croatia and Switzerland. The event was also attended by colleagues from various European organizations and the Head of the Council of Europe.
