Students of the IIR Visited Key Institutions of the European Union
With the support of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Institute of International Relations (IIR) and under the direct coordination of Associate Professor Yuliia Polieieva, a large delegation of students participated in an international educational program from January 7 to 15, 2026. The program focused on European studies, translation practice, and parliamentarism, organized by the French NGO "Ukraine dans l'Europe."
For the first time within a single educational tour, IIR students visited all the fundamental institutions of the European Union relevant to their fields of study:
Frankfurt: The European Central Bank (ECB).
Brussels: The Council of the EU / European Council, the European Commission, and the European Parliament.
Luxembourg: The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Auditors (ECA).

Beyond the EU core, participants visited the Buchenwald Memorial, the Deutsche Bundesbank, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. In Paris, the itinerary included UNESCO, the OECD, the interactive center "Europa Expérience Paris," the French Senate, the Sorbonne University, and the Embassy of Ukraine in France.
In total, the delegation visited 16 institutions across 5 European cities.
The highlights of the program were the lectures and meetings at the ECB, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the CJEU, the European Court of Auditors, the Council of the EU, and the European Commission. These sessions focused on the practical functioning of the EU, multilingualism, and the nuances of interpretation and translation.
The program also featured a traditionally engaging "off the record" discussion with the Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Vadym Omelchenko.
