Students of the Institute of International Relations met with the British Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Harris

On April 14, 2025, students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv had a unique opportunity to meet with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Ukraine, Martin Harris. The meeting took place at the Institute and was dedicated to the 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
His Excellency delivered a speech in Ukrainian, which was warmly received by the students and faculty. In his speech, the Ambassador emphasized the depth of historical ties between our countries and the importance of strategic partnership in light of current challenges.
During the discussion, moderated by the Director of the Institute of International Relations, Professor Valeriy Kopiyka, students had the opportunity to ask the Ambassador questions. One of the most pressing questions concerned the prospects for a truce with Russia in the context of ongoing aggression. In response, Martin Harris expressed a clear position on the need for peace on Ukraine's terms and emphasized the continued support of the United Kingdom.

They also discussed the UK's leadership role in supporting Ukraine at the European level. The Ambassador assured that there is an absolute consensus in the UK both in the Parliament and in the society on the importance of supporting Ukraine, and the country is seriously committed to leading the European democratic opposition to dictatorial regimes.
The meeting was held in an open and extremely warm atmosphere. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to Martin Harris for his support, attention to young people and readiness for dialogue. We are sincerely grateful to the British Ambassador for this meaningful meeting and look forward to further fruitful cooperation between our countries and educational institutions.
