Economic Diplomacy in Action: MFA Attaché Kseniia ABRAMOVYCH Delivers Lecture for Future International Economists
On April 21, 2026, the Department of International Organizations and Diplomatic Service organized a professional meeting for second-year students of the "International Economic Relations" educational program.
The guest speaker was Ms. Kseniia ABRAMOVYCH, Attaché of the Export Promotion and Foreign Diplomatic Missions (FDM) Economic Performance Evaluation Division within the Department of Economic Diplomacy and Recovery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The event took place as part of the "Theory and Forms of International Economic Relations" course (lectured by Prof. Rita Zablotska). The primary objective of the lecture was to highlight the operational mechanisms of the modern diplomatic service in protecting national economic interests and supporting Ukrainian businesses in foreign markets.
The discussion focused on several key thematic areas:
The MFA’s Role in Ukraine’s Recovery: The functions and responsibilities of the Department of Economic Diplomacy and Recovery in the context of post-war reconstruction.
Specifics of Foreign Diplomatic Missions (FDM): How Ukraine’s embassies and consulates monitor markets, evaluate economic performance, and actively promote Ukrainian exports.
Support Toolkit for Exporters: Practical engagement with the Council of Exporters and Investors (CEI) under the MFA of Ukraine and algorithms for assisting businesses in entering new geographical markets.
The Profession of an Economic Diplomat: Essential competencies, challenges, and career growth opportunities for graduates specializing in International Economic Relations.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions regarding real-world cases of providing economic support to Ukrainian companies abroad. They also received expert advice on internships and future employment prospects within the diplomatic service system.
Such meetings are crucial for providing students with a holistic understanding of how theoretical models of international economic relations are transformed into concrete diplomatic actions and tangible economic achievements for the state.
