On 19 April 2024, within the framework of the discipline "Gender Issues in International Law", first-year students of the Master's degree programme "International Law" met with a graduate of our Institute, Ph. Kateryna Busol, who currently teaches at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and deals with the issue of sexual and gender-based violence in the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

A few weeks before the online class, the group received a list of questions and excerpts from the documents of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, established by the UN Human Rights Council, for preliminary analysis. During the meeting, Kateryna evaluated the students' proposals on the qualification of the investigated cases of conflict-related sexual violence under international and Ukrainian law, and also spoke about the practical difficulties encountered in Ukraine in investigating and prosecuting these crimes.

The interaction between the guest expert and the student group was facilitated by Olha Poedynok, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of International Law of the Institute of International Relations.
