Lecture by George Popov on "Gender Aspects of the Investigation of Conflict-Related Violence"

On April 05, 2024, within the framework of the academic discipline "Gender Issues in International Law," which is taught in the first course of the master's educational program "International Law," an open guest online lecture was held on the topic: "Gender Aspects of the Investigation of Conflict-Related Violence," which was read by Georgy Popov, Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminology of the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine, National Expert of the Council of Europe, lawyer, adviser to the lawyer association "Aktum Group."

The guest of our Institute spoke about the legal norms establishing the requirements for the investigation of sexual violence related to the armed conflict, about the peculiarities of the treatment of victims of this crime, as well as about the practical aspects of documenting and investigating cases of SNPK. In addition, Mr. George drew the attention of the audience to how the situation with domestic violence has changed in Ukraine during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. At the end of the meeting, students had the opportunity to ask questions to the lecturer.
