Military Diplomacy and External Communication of Ukraine: Open Lecture by MFA Adviser Georgy Tykhy

зустріч

For students of the "International Communications" and "International Regional Studies", an open lecture was held with the participation of Georgy Tykhy, adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The meeting was dedicated to "Military Diplomacy and External Communication of Ukraine" and was an opportunity to directly get acquainted with the practice of international communications of Ukraine in wartime.

During the lecture, the Adviser shared his own experience of implementing communication projects in the MFA system, and also spoke about the peculiarities of interaction with Ukrainian and European top diplomats. It was emphasized that after 2022, diplomacy is inseparable from communications, when effective promotion of the state's position on the international arena is impossible without a clearly developed communication strategy.

Students learned about the MASK principle in international communications, which determines the logic of forming and delivering messages to different audiences. Considerable attention was paid to the use of cultural and historical context as a tool for enhancing the effectiveness of Ukraine's international communications.

During the meeting, the concept of proactive communication and the importance of the ability to set a framework for discussion, forming an agenda in the international information space were considered. Heorhiy Tykhyi also explained how to reach foreign target audiences and effectively deliver the Ukrainian message in conditions of information competition and counteraction.

A separate block of the lecture was devoted to the essence of military diplomacy, the measurability of communications and typical mistakes that should be avoided in interaction with an international audience.

We sincerely thank Heorhiy Tykhyi for a meaningful, deep and practically oriented lecture, openness and willingness to share experience. The meeting concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, during which students had the opportunity to discuss current challenges in international communications and receive valuable professional advice.
