Open lecture by Serhii Koziakov on the topic: ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Future Legal Profession’
On 11 May 2026, the Institute of International Relations hosted an open lecture by Serhii Koziakov, Associate Professor of the Department of Private International Law, on the topic: ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Future Lawyer’s Profession’.
First- to fourth-year students specialising in ‘International Law’ who attended the lecture learnt more about the ethical use of artificial intelligence, the rapid development of AI technologies and their impact on legal practice, international law, education, media and digital communications.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of a timely response to these changes, specifically within the legal sphere, as the development of LLM technologies is currently outpacing the formation of mechanisms for their legal and ethical regulation.
The speaker also cited examples of the implementation of educational programmes in higher education institutions across the globe and highlighted the challenges associated with the development of artificial intelligence.
In particular, the discussion covered the potential risks to youth employment due to the gradual replacement of certain professions by AI, as well as the ethical and legal aspects of using these technologies, which remain the subject of active debate and require further regulation.
We would like to sincerely thank the lecturer for his informative talk, valuable professional insights and open dialogue, and the students for their active participation, interesting questions and engagement in the discussion!
