“Poetry Evening” 2026

On the occasion of World Poetry Day, celebrated annually on March 21, the “International Communications” academic program held its third traditional event — “Poetry Evening.”

The event was organized by Maria Zaitseva, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of International Information.

The poetry evening brought together faculty members, students, and guests who appreciate, promote poetry, and write their own verses.

Among the attendees were Director of the Institute of International Relations Valerii Kopiika and Deputy Director Olena Pryiatelchuk.

The program featured different generations and styles of poetry. In particular, the following works were performed:

Lina Kostenko — “I Grew Up in the Kyiv Venice” (Oleksandra Paranytsia)

Vasyl Symonenko — “You Know That You Are Human?” and “Tell Me, Isn’t It Fantastic” (Roman Shvets)

Poetic translation of excerpts from the Book of Job (Yurii Romanenko)

Pierre de Ronsard — “Quand vous serez bien vieille” (Oksana Zaporozhets)

At the end of the evening, Anatolii Yakovets performed a musical adaptation of Lina Kostenko’s poem “You Sang for Me…”

Poetry is the most sincere form of language, in which we find pieces of ourselves.
