Presentation of the Ukrainian–Polish Analytical Report in Warsaw
Recently, the presentation of the Second Analytical Report “Strategic Partnership between Poland and Ukraine in the Context of Russia’s Full-Scale Aggression against Ukraine” took place at the University of Warsaw. The expert document was prepared by Polish (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin) and Ukrainian (Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) scholars and edited by Professors Marek Pietraś, Valentyn Balyuk (Poland), and Hryhorii Perepelytsia (Ukraine). Authors of several sections of the report were faculty members of the political science departments of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations. The presentation was accompanied by a discussion. Participants included, among others, Member of Parliament of Ukraine Mykola Kniazhytskyi, renowned Polish analyst Adam Eberhardt, expert of the Academic Centre for Strategic Analysis Tomasz Stępniewski, and Oleksandra Ivaniuk from the “Ukrainian House” Foundation.
The document presents the views of Ukrainian and Polish scholars on the strategic partnership between the two states, taking into account the dynamics of changes in the geopolitical environment, an analysis of the domain of strategic partnership, and prospects for the development of relations in the context of Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO. It offers forecasts along several vectors—EU enlargement policy, economy, social development, European security, public diplomacy, and strategic communication—regarding relations between Poland and Ukraine in a chaotic geopolitical context, with an attempt to outline the implications of these changes for bilateral relations in the future. The prospects of the “strategic partnership” formula are examined separately. Overall, with academic precision, the report raises the question of the future of this narrative as a long-standing ideological framework for bilateral relations.
It should be noted that the International Group for the Study of Ukraine–Poland Relations will continue its work.
