The following students were involved in the project:

In the PBL format, participants worked in mixed teams on three practical projects:

  1. The EXPERTS team explored the topic of HHI & Market Concentration in the EU AdTech Ecosystem, assessing the level of market concentration and potential violations of competition law.
  2. The Cartel Killers team developed an analytical document entitled "POLICY BRIEF: Forecasting the impact of BYD's entry into the EU: legal and economic aspects", in which students focused on assessing the competitive environment of the European automotive market. The study included an analysis of market structure, concentration levels, BYD's potential competitive advantages, possible reactions from European manufacturers, and regulatory challenges that may arise in connection with the entry of a new powerful player.
  3. The PEACHES team prepared a thorough study of the wholesale electricity market in the EU, examining trends, regulatory approaches, and competitive challenges.

The COUL project was coordinated by Prof. K.V. Smirnova, Prof. O.I. Shnyrkov, and Assoc. Prof. L.O. Shvorak.

Interdisciplinary projects combining economic and legal analysis of EU competition policy demonstrate high practical relevance, innovation and significant motivational value for students. It is particularly valuable that students of the IIR have the opportunity to collaborate within such initiatives, combining expertise from different disciplines and approaches. This format of work not only provides a deeper understanding of the current challenges facing European markets, but also develops important professional competencies — in particular, the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, apply analytical tools of competition policy, argue legal and economic positions, make data-driven decisions, and communicate effectively in a professional environment.
