January 2022

On January 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Small Assembly Hall, the final step in obtaining higher education was taken by master's students of the specialities "Foreign Policy and National Security", "Diplomacy and International Cooperation", "International Finance and Investments", "International Journalism", " International litigation", "International private law".

 

On January 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., students and employees of the ES IIR participated in laying flowers at the graves of students of St. Volodymyr's University - participants in the Battle of Kruty - Volodymyr Shulgin (1894-1918) and Volodymyr Naumovich (1894-1918) at the Lukyaniv Cemetery.

 

On January 29-30, the All-Ukrainian debate tournament "When words matter" was held within the walls of the native ES IIR, where the participants discussed how words - spoken, written and even those that simply remained in the mind - affect our world and the perception of oneself in it.

 

Representatives of Tras Shevchenko KNU took part in the international practical conference "Hybrid Challenges of the Modern World: Ukraine and Threats".

 

February 2022

February 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. A 10-minute lecture was held by the Consul of Ukraine in Dubai and the Northern Emirates of the UAE, Oleksandr Vasyliovych Khomyak, on the topic "Diplomatic protection of the rights and interests of the accrediting state and its citizens."

 

On February 15, a lecture was held by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Yevgenia Illivna Filipenko.

 

The other day, an international webinar "Strategic partnership between Poland and Ukraine in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine" was held. The organizers of the event were the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the Marie Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, the Institute of Central Europe in Lublin and the Center for Eastern Europe of the UMKS. In the foreword, Prof. Marek Pietras, director of the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, emphasized that this event is being held, in particular, as the next step in the implementation of the direction that was initiated in the joint Analytical Report of Ukrainian and Polish scientists entitled "The State and Prospects of Poland's Strategic Partnership and Ukraine". The report itself was presented in printed format by one of the initiators of the project, Prof. Valentyn Balyuk, director of the Eastern Europe Center of the UMKS in Lublin.

 

May 2022

On May 6, 2022, all English-speaking students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations had the opportunity to take part in an online discussion devoted to the most pressing issues of protecting the rights of internally displaced persons in conditions of armed conflict, which were revealed by Oleg Tarasenko, senior strategic lawyer of the project "Advocacy, protection and legal assistance to internally displaced persons" (BF "Right to protection"). Among other things, the guest shared his own lawyer's experience of providing legal assistance to this category of persons and also discussed with the students the practice of the European Court of Human Rights on issues of state jurisdiction in the context of armed conflict.

 

On May 12, 2022, the English-speaking student body of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv had the opportunity to discuss the topic of human trafficking with the University of Kyiv. n., lawyer of NGO "La Strada-Ukraine" Yulia Anosova. During the event, the lecturer spoke about the norms of international law and the laws of Ukraine aimed at countering this phenomenon in peacetime and during armed conflict.

 

On May 16, 2022, male and female students in the 1st year of the master's degree of the "International Law" department, who studies in the specialization "International Protection of Human Rights", had classes on the discipline "Gender Issues in International Law" in the format of a case study.

 

Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy Maksym Stanislavovich Kamenetskyi together with students of the "International Relations" educational program Olena Yurchenko, Hanna Garmash and Anatoly Chernysh gave an interview to the N1 television channel, one of the leading media in Croatia.

 

On May 20-21, 2022, representatives of the All-Ukrainian youth public organization "European Youth of Ukraine" (YMGO of EMU), students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (an educational program of the speciality "International Law") Ruslana Bolkun, Olena Dudko and Kateryna Onishchuk presented a resolution on the recognition of the genocide committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine at the Congress of the pan-European organization LYMEC.

 

June 2022

Vasyl Namonyuk, associate professor of the Department of International Finance, won the Global Campus Collaborative Virtual Visitorship Grant for virtual mobility from the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs, Northwestern University (Chicago, USA), which is among the 20 best universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings.

 

July 2022

On July 14, 2022, students of the Institute of International Relations took part in the work of the inter-university seminar "Bridging Ukraine and Spain" for students and scientific and pedagogical workers of the University of La Rioja.

 

October 2022

On October 7, 2022, the English-speaking students of the Institute met in the online format with Oksana Vadimivna Zolotaryova, director of the Department of International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

 

On October 12, 2022, an online meeting was held with Doctor of Laws, Professor Andrii Galai on the topic: "Effective public service: is it possible? Experience, insiders, life hacks.

 

Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University received a support request from colleagues from the Institute of Political Science and Administration of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin.

 

On October 26-28, for the first time in several years, an in-person self-government fair of the Student Council took place within the walls of the Institute.

 

November 2022

On November 11, 2022, in the group of the II year of the master's degree of the "International Law" department, which specializes in the international protection of human rights, within the framework of the discipline "Protection of the rights of migrants", a class was held in the format of a simulation of a court session in the mode of a video conference.

 

On November 16, 2022, the head of Kernel's internal audit department, Dilyara Kadermeyeva, held a lecture for students in the 4th year of the "International Communications" OPP.

 

On November 21, 2022, a master class was held by Yulia Viktorivna Anosova, PhD, expert of NGO "La Strada-Ukraine" on the topic: "Prevention and countermeasures against human trafficking in the conditions of war in Ukraine: international and national dimensions."

 

On November 21, 2022, within the framework of the "Protection of Migrants' Rights" discipline, students of the 2nd year of the master's degree of the "International Law" department, who are studying the "International Protection of Human Rights" specialization, took part in a master class.

 

December 2022

Alina Yurii, an analyst at the Department of Countering Informational Threats to National Security of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, held a lecture for students of the "International Communications" educational program.

 

The administration of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations expresses its sincere gratitude to the shareholder of the Leo International Payment System and JSC Ibox Bank and the member of the Supervisory Board of the "IIR Development Fund" Alyona Shevtsova for her invaluable contribution to the development of our educational institution. Thanks to her support, one of the lecture halls of the Institute of International Relations was renovated using the most modern technologies. From now on, future classroom training for students will be many times more comfortable.

 

The other day, an international round table "Information Security: The Russian-Ukrainian War Pays Bills" took place at the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Media Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, dedicated to the release of the "Green" and "White Papers on countering disinformation". Institutions co-organizers of the event became the NGO "Institute of Information Security" and the NGO "Media Detector". The round table was attended by, in particular: Emine Japarova (First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine), Olena Dobrzhanska (Vice-Rector of Taras Shevchenko KNU), Artem Bidenko (Chairman of the Board of the "Institute of Information Security"), Dmytro Zolotukhin (Founder of the "Institute of Post-Information Society"). Analytical teams of students in the 4th year of the OP "International Communications" under the leadership of Professor Serhii Danylenko also took part in the discussion. During the round table, the students of education presented their critical views on the newly published "Green book on countering disinformation" and gave a professional assessment of its relevance in today's information security architecture.
