25 Years of Training Finance Professionals and Scientific Achievements!
The Department of International Finance at the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations was established in 1999, becoming the first centre in Ukraine for training specialists in international finance. Over a quarter-century of its development, the department has nurtured a galaxy of top-notch professionals who have successfully built careers in leading Ukrainian and international financial institutions, multinational enterprises, and state agencies.
Studying in the department's educational programs, which are oriented towards the current needs of the labour market, provides students with deep knowledge and practical skills in international finance, investment activities, and financial markets. The department's educational programs are regularly adapted to the dynamic changes in the industry and the requirements of employers, equipping students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills. Thanks to the harmonious combination of world-class academic preparation and close cooperation with leading companies, graduates of the department have ample opportunities for successful employment and rapid career growth both in Ukraine and abroad.
From the department's inception, it was headed by Doctor of Economics, Prof. O. Rogach, a specialist in the field of world economy and international investments. During 2020-2023, the acting head was Doctor of Economics, Prof. S. Tsyganov. Since August 2023, the department has been led by V. Namoniuk, Ph.D., Associate Professor.
The Department of International Finance employs 12 faculty members: 3 Doctors of Economics, Professors (O. Rogach, S. Tsyganov, P. Dziuba), 5 Associate Professors, Candidates of Economic Sciences (N. Kuznetsova, N. Fareniuk, V. Namoniuk, V. Matey, O. Lytvyn), 4 Assistants (A. Bilous, O. Heiko, K.Shtogrin, O. Hryn), and 6 postgraduate students.
The Department of International Finance, together with the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations, ensures the educational process in the speciality "International Economic Relations". The department is the main one for bachelor's and master's specialisations in "International Finance" and "International Investments". The department's faculty members also deliver lectures in other educational programs of the institute. Since 2016, the department has been the primary unit for implementing the new master's educational program "International Finance and Investments" with specialisations in "International Financial Activity" and "International Investment Practice". Starting in 2019, it has also been responsible for the new inter-departmental bachelor's English-language program "International Business, Commerce and Finance".
The department's educational programs have a clear international orientation, preparing students for successful careers in the global environment. Students actively participate in international projects, internships, and competitions, demonstrating high results at the international level.
The Department's faculty have developed and teach the following core academic disciplines: Fundamentals of International Microeconomics, Micro- and Macroeconomic Foundations of International Business, World Economy, International Finance, Multinational Enterprises, Offshore Finance, Financial Systems of World Countries, International Auditing and Financial Analysis, International Investment Management, International Investment Projects, Mergers and Acquisitions in Global Capital Markets, International Financial Markets, International Financial Markets and Banking, International Portfolio Investment, Strategic Management of International Enterprises, Economics of International Firms, International Investment Projects: Case Studies. Among the specialization disciplines taught by the department's faculty are the following normative and specialized courses: International Financial Management, International Tax Management, Stock Markets of Foreign Countries, Finance of International Enterprises, International Financial Analytics, Business Analytics of International Financial Markets, Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions, Monetary Policy Strategies of Foreign Countries, International Startup Financing, Theories of Foreign Direct Investment, International Trade Lending, International Financial Engineering, Technological Products of International Finance, International Institutional Investors, Operations in EU Investment Markets, Strategies for Optimizing International Portfolio Investment, International Financial and Investment Consulting, Operations in European Investment and Financial Markets, International Payment Systems, Global Corporations in International Markets, Strategic Management of International Enterprises, Operations in Global Derivatives Markets, Business Plan for International Investment Projects, Social Responsibility of International Enterprises, Financial Technologies of International Banks, Digital Marketing in International Commerce.
Through the efforts of the department's staff, with the participation of authoritative domestic experts in the field of international finance, about 40 monographs, textbooks, and study guides have been prepared. Notable works include: "International Finance" / edited by Prof. O. Rogach. Kyiv, 2003, "Fundamentals of International Finance" / edited by Prof. O. Rogach. Kyiv, 2009, "Fundamentals of International Finance" / edited by Prof. O. Rogach. Kyiv, 2014, which serve as the basic educational material for courses on issues of international finance. Other notable textbooks include: "Multinational Enterprises" (Kyiv, 2019, Prof. O. Rogach), "Theories of International Business" (Kyiv, 2018, Prof. O. Rogach), "International Portfolio Investments" (Kyiv, 2018, Prof. O. Rogach, Prof. P. Dziuba), "Multinational Enterprises in China" (Kyiv, 2023, Prof. O. Rogach), "Special Economic Zones and the Impact of Foreign Capital on the Economic Development of Developing Countries" (Kyiv, 2023, Assoc. Prof. N. Kuznietsova).
Among the department's achievements is the defense of 5 doctoral and over 30 candidate dissertations.
The department has established scientific student circles, in particular, under the guidance of Prof. S. Tsyganov, Assoc. Prof. N. Kuznetsova, and Assoc. Prof. V. Namoniuk, the circle "Current Issues of Global Finance" is functioning.
The department's faculty members (Prof. P. Dziuba, Assoc. Prof. V. Namoniuk, Assoc. Prof. V. Matey) provide guidance to students for participation in the CFA Institute Research Challenge. Teams of students have repeatedly reached the finals of this prestigious competition.
