Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of Private International Law Oleksandr Biriukov joined the Working Group on the development of an international instrument on bank resolution as a Correspondent of the Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).

The document was adopted by the UNIDROIT Governing Board in May 2025.

The document was developed by a Working Group of 40 institutional observers, including international and regional organizations, national banking supervisors, deposit insurers and bank resolution authorities from around the world.

The UNIDROIT Bank Resolution Handbook provides guidance to legislators and policymakers on how to develop effective legal frameworks for the resolution of non-systemically important banks.

This document complements the Key Attributes of Effective Financial Institution Resolution Regimes developed by the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
