Research and methodological work

The scientific activity of the department focuses on the study of the theory and practice of international organizations, relevant issues concerning Ukraine's participation in international universal and regional organizations, issues concerning the development of modern diplomatic service and diplomatic protocol, history of Ukrainian diplomacy. Since 1992, 3 doctoral dissertations and 43 PhD theses have been defended at the department. Tutors of the department have prepared more than 40 monographs, textbooks, and manuals. Every year the department holds scientific and practical conferences, in which graduate students, students of the Institute, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and employees of international organization offices in our country take an active part. The department has established permanent ties with foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine.

The textbook examines the main periods of the diplomatic history of Ukraine from the earliest times to the beginning of the 21st century using a problem-chronological principle and a comparative approach. The international political situation of Ukrainian lands and state bodies that existed on their territory, as well as the peculiarities of their foreign policy activities are revealed against the background of European and world history, in the context of domestic concepts of elitism.

The main characteristic features of the settlement of the Lebanese conflict in the Middle East region are highlighted. The main attention is focused on the activities of international organizations aimed at solving the problem. A wide range of subjects of international relations were involved in the settlement of the Lebanese conflict at various times: the UN, the League of Arab States (LAS), the United States, France, other European countries and individual Arab countries ( in particular, Syria), etc. In addition, in the process of unblocking conflict situations that constantly arose in Lebanon, a wide range of peace-making means ranging from military to political-diplomatic were tested.

The main problems of the modern development of Euro-Atlantic relations are highlighted, the role and contribution of NATO and the OSCE in creating reliable mechanisms for guaranteeing European and Euro-Atlantic security and Ukraine's cooperation with these key organizations are investigated. It has been proven that NATO and the OSCE play an important role in Ukraine's successful opposition to Russia's aggressive policy. It was emphasized that Ukraine's active interaction with the North Atlantic Alliance and its participation in OSCE activities positions our country as a powerful player on the international arena in the field of security.

The proposed book is the first monographic study of the modern history and politics of Great Britain in domestic social science. The monograph examines the main aspects of the foreign policy activities of British governments from the second half of the 20th century and the factors of the formation of Britain's pro-European course at the current stage. The monograph examines the problems of relations with neighboring and geographically close states and state entities, which at one time were part of the common imperial political and legal space of Russia, which are vital for the establishment of sovereign Ukraine. Analytical report "The state and prospects of the strategic partnership between Poland and Ukraine. A view from Poland and Ukraine" was prepared by the International Group for the Study of Poland-Ukraine Relations, consisting of employees of the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the UMKS, the Institute of Central Europe in Lublin, the Institute of International Relations of KNU named after Taras Shevchenko.

The analytical report analyzes various levels of bilateral relations between Poland and Ukraine in the context of the changing international environment. The document reflects the views of Polish and Ukrainian experts on the development of the strategic partnership between Poland and Ukraine and develops a number of recommendations for authorities that shape the foreign policy of states.
