On 21.03.2025, Olena Nikolenko, CEO and Co-founder of Human Factor, gave a lecture on ‘Competitiveness in the labour market’ for 3rd year students of the 4th group of the International Business (with compulsory study of two foreign languages) programme. The lecture was held as part of the discipline ‘International Marketing’ under the guidance of Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of International Business Victoria Karp.

The main directions of the meeting:

  • Positioning yourself in the labour market and the right motivation.
  • Creating the perfect CV for companies.

The students learnt what is behind the concept of a personal brand, as natural data and a unique path truly define everyone. It was interesting to hear that it is important not to merge with the brand of the company you work for, no matter how successful it is, because there is a risk of losing your own identity and ‘centre of power’. A personal brand is what people say about us in our absence. When presenting yourself, it is important to think about the person to whom you are addressing your CV or message and try to convey the most relevant information.

One of the key realisations was that before choosing a company and your role in it, you should ask yourself questions: ‘What do I want?’, “If it's a management position, do I really want it, or is it just the pressure of stereotypes or society?”. It is important to maintain a proactive stance, as understanding yourself, your values, personality, experience, desires, capabilities and ambitions helps you build an equal relationship with a potential manager.

It was valuable to think that money motivates you for only three months, a new position for another three, and true love for your work for years. Every weakness is a growth area, and every missed opportunity is followed by another one that may turn out to be even better.

The event was followed by a lively Q&A session.

We look forward to seeing you again!
