September 2019

  1. September 19-21, 2019, Prof. K. V. Smyrnova took part in the international conference "Transposition of the EU competition framework - trends and challenges: Eastern Europe" at the University of Oxford. The conference brought together 16 young and experienced scientists who researched the topic of the EU's trade relations with the three countries of the Eastern Partnership - Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - and the role of the competitive base in promoting this process. The conference became a platform for the exchange of experience on the effective construction of the competition framework in the three above-mentioned states based on the best practices of the EU. The conference included three expert groups, where scientists analyzed the importance of the competitive base for EU internal and external trade; discussed relevant EU experience and conclusions regarding developing countries, which may be relevant for the Eastern Partnership countries in the process of strengthening the relevant competition framework; analyzed the legislation on competition and law enforcement in Ukraine. In addition, young scientists had the opportunity to present their current research and receive feedback and suggestions for their further development. The Faculty of Law and Somerville College organised and supported the conference. Prof. K. V. Smyrnova gave a scientific report on the main problems of competition legislation in Ukraine in bringing the legislation closer to the norms of EU law. 
  2. Jean Monnet Center of Excellence expert K. V. Smyrnova took part in practical training for lawyers on the topic "European Union law in legal positions Court of the EU". The workshop was held by the legal portal Ratio Dicidenti and accredited by the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine. 
  3. Jean Monnet Center of Excellence experts K. V. Smyrnova and O. V. Sviatun took part in an extended practical training for lawyers on the topic "European Union Law in the Legal Positions of the Court of Justice of the European Union". The workshop was conducted by the Ratio Dicidenti legal portal and accredited by the National Bar Association of Ukraine.

 

October 2019

  1. The head of the Jean Monet Center of Excellence O. I. Shnyrkov gave an interview about the economic consequences of Brexit for Ukraine to the news portal "Today". 
  2. The head of the Jean Monet Center of Excellence O. I. Shnyrkov gave an interview to the news portal "Today" about the economic relations of Ukraine and the USA at the current stage. 
  3. Members of the Center took part in the international scientific and theoretical conference "Strategic Positioning of Ukraine in the modern international space", which was held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. 
  4. The head of the Center of Excellence Jean Monet O. I. Shnyrkov presented a report on the scientific and methodological support of the educational process of the educational program "International Economic Relations" (2015-2019) during the meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of International Relations. Expert of the Jean Monet Center of Excellence N. O. Pipchenko prepared in co-authorship with M. M. Ryzhkov chapter of the textbook "Strategic Communications" on the European integration context of strategic communications of Ukraine. 

  5. EU economy expert O.A. Chugaev:

    - was a reviewer of the doctoral dissertation of associate professor G. O. Shamborovskyi on the topic "Regularities of achieving the welfare of the population in the conditions of transformation of international integration associations", in particular, the dissertation examined welfare indicators in the EU and the consequences of the European integration of Ukraine for economic welfare.

    - held a meeting of the subsection "Economics of European Integration" within the framework of the international scientific and practical conference of students, postgraduates and young scientists "Actual Problems of International Relations". 

  6. Director of the Institute of International Relations and head of the EU policy section of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence V.V. Kopiika held separate meetings with the representative of the European Commission, Jean-Christopher Bellard, and the Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, D. I. Kuleba. Subsequently, distinguished invited guests held thematic lectures for the students. 
  7. The head of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence O.I. Shnyrkov took part in the meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Commission "International Economic Relations" of the Education Sector of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine. During the meeting, the issue of deepening educational competencies regarding European and Euro-Atlantic integration in the State Standard of the speciality was discussed. 
  8. Jean Monnet Center of Excellence expert K. V. Smyrnova participated in the preparation of an online course for lawyers "European Union Law in the Legal Positions of the Court of Justice of the European Union".

 

November 2019

  1. Head of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, prof. O. I. Shnyrkov took part in the International Erasmus+ Week in Ukraine (Jean Monnet Day) and spoke with information for all participants of Jean Monnet projects regarding the latest requirements of the State Standards for Higher Education in the Humanities regarding mandatory competencies in European and Euro-Atlantic integration for graduates of bachelor's, master's and postgraduate programs (08/11/2019). 
  2. Jean Monet Center of Excellence expert, prof. K. V. Smyrnov took part in the introductory seminar on the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU for members of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Ukraine's Integration with the European Union (08/11/2019). 
  3. The head of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, prof. O. I. Shnyrkov gave an interview for the news portal "Today" regarding the technical regulation in the EU and Ukraine of the modern system of supporting industry and promoting economic development. 
  4. Under the leadership of Prof. K. V. Smyrnova defended her dissertation for the degree of candidate of legal sciences N. Bodnar on the topic "Legal regulation of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in the sphere of justice."

 

December 2019

  1. Jean Monnet Center of Excellence expert Assoc. Prof. S. Makovsky completed training and was selected as an expert on the accreditation of educational programs in the fields of knowledge: 052 "Political Science" and 291 "International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies" with entry into the state register of experts on the accreditation of educational programs. 
  2. Expert of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence Assoc. Prof. S. Makovsky participated in the annual meeting of the Supervisory Board of the European Center of the Maria Skladovska-Curie University of Lublin. During the meeting, he told the participants about the creation of the Center and invited further cooperation in research and teaching of European studies in Eastern Europe. 
  3. Members of the Center took part in the international scientific and theoretical conference "Evolution of the European Union: the main challenges of modernity and prospects", dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaties, organized by the Department of Comparative and European Law and the Scientific Expert Center of European and Comparative Law. The conference was opened by the Head of the EU Representation in Ukraine, Ambassador Matti Maasikas, the director of the Institute Valerii Kopiika and the head of the EU Project "Pravo-Justice" Dovydas Vitkauskas.
  4. Head of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, prof. O. I. Shnyrkov gave a comment to the news portal "Today" regarding the creation of free economic zones between Ukraine and Moldova.
  5. Expert of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence N. O. Pipchenko took part in the international scientific and practical conference "International information / international communication: history, modernity and prospects", which was held at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. The event was organized by the departments of international information and international media communications and communication technologies of Taras Shevchenko KNU of the Institute of Information Technology.

  • Academic coordinator of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, prof. O. I. Shnyrkov, as an official opponent, took part in the meeting of the Academic Council of the Ternopil National University of Economics regarding I. Lyshchinsky's obtaining the scientific degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences. The dissertation topic is "Glocalization strategies for the formation of poles of development in Europe".
  • Academic coordinator of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, prof. O. I. Shnyrkov approved the research topic "Synchronization of business cycles of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova with the EU in the conditions of economic integration" for T. Zolos to obtain the scientific degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences.
