The Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Santo Tomas University (Bogota, Colombia) launched a series of lectures on the protection of human rights during armed conflicts and the further restoration of the functioning of state mechanisms in the legal field.

April 4, 2024, joint lectures series by academics of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University and the University of Santo Tomas (Bogotá, Colombia) was launched dedicated to the protection of human rights during armed conflicts and the further restoration of the functioning of state mechanisms in the legal poly.

The first lecture "European anti-corruption mechanisms as key factor of Ukraine's candidacy status for EU membership " was held by Olena Sviatun, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Chair of Comparative and European Law of EaS IIR. The lecture was devoted to highlighting the issues of Ukraine's participation in the universal anti-corruption mechanisms and the unique mechanism established within the framework of the Council of Europe. The main focus was on the status of Ukraine's implementation of the recommendations of the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and of the European Commission on bringing Ukrainian legislation and practice into compliance with European standards in this area, as well as the influence of these factors on the adoption by the European Council of the decision to open accession negotiations with Ukraine in December 2023.
